Annoying Bible People and War Wives Concert

Dressing Room for the Concert

At the Concert
Sister Cardon said she had a week of wonderfulness! They met with the three investigators they found last week. They have stayed busy and are very happy about having people to meet with. One investigator has become very interested in religion. He had a life changing experience. He was almost killed and feels like God saved him.He wants to learn more!

Sister McCarry was in a special War Wives Concert. Sister Cardon said it was an all day affair and a very big deal! Then when they were home at their apartment someone knocked on their door. When they opened it the person said, "Don't worry I'm not one of those annoying people that try to give you a bible." He was collecting money for dissabled children. Before, Sister Cardon could say anything he asked if she had any children. Sister Cardon said no and that she was a missionary. He asked what a missionary was and Sister McCarry chimed in that they were indeed those annoying people that try to give you bible. Sister Cardon said his expression was priceless!

19 Hours of Sunlight and Raw Fish!

Sister Cardon loves Yummy Raw Fish!
Sister Cardon reports:
" Dundee is the sunniest and driest city in Scotland? So I feel super blessed to be in such a warm area. The days are super long, its gets light at 4am and doesn't get dark until about 11pm so there is only about 5 hours of darkness which is really nice and makes missionary work feel a lot better when its light all day long instead of dark. We found 3 new investigators which greatly increased our teaching pool.

Our stake president is really cool and gives everyone a little object at the beginning of the Saturday session and then they have to wait and hold this object until the end when he relates it to the gospel. Last conference he gave everyone a set of ear plugs and talked about tuning out the world and then challenged everyone to stop watching TV, get on facebook etc. for a week. He is pretty creative. On Saturday everyone was given this week little brown envelope and it said DO NOT OPEN. When he talked he told everyone to stand up and close their eyes. Then he asked everyone to point to where North was, still with our eyes closed. When we opened our eyes all of us where pointing in different direction. Then he asked us all to open this envelope and inside was a little compass, everyone got one. He related the compass to the Holy Ghost, and how the dependable, unchanging qualities of a compass guide us through life just like the Holy Ghost."

A Baptism and Yoga Football!

William's Baptism!

Classic Scottish Telephone Booth

Sister Cardon Loves this Sign!

Sister Cardon said this is the Lollipop Man
Sister Cardon is so happy to report that William was baptized this Sunday and that 50 ward members stayed to watch the baptism!
She said,
"William so prepared we really didn't even have to do anything. All we did was show up and teach and he was ready to hear the message. So that was a very happy day."

She also was able to teach a lesson to a Polish man. She said they asked him what he would do if he found out the Book of Mormon was true and he said, "that is one-sided question, there is only one thing I could do and that would be to join this church." Comments like this make missionaries very excited.

Sister Cardon enjoyed another Zone development day. She said it was ridiculously fun!
They played Yoga Football (soccer) but they played with a Yoga ball and it was impossible to control the ball. In addition, the ground was slippery so they fell down trying to control the big yoga ball and get it in the goal. They also played Conference Jeopardy, volleyball and other games. The missionaries love these development days! She is sad to report her favorite Sister Trainer Leader has to go home 11 weeks early to get her tonsils out. But, the week was fantastic overall!

Warm Air and Rain

Dundee Foliage

Fife Area with Dundee Across the River

Elder Sweat and Sister Cardon both from Heber City, Utah
Sister Cardon reports she had stake conference and zone conference. She had an extra set of Sister missionaries stay at her flat. She alwasy enjoys meeting new Sisters! Their investigator is progressing toward baptism. She is very excited as he has been interviewed for the baptism. She shares:
"The Dundee ward is starting a  "Month of Invitation" in June to help the missionaries. On Sunday they passed out a calendar that's all about missionary work and doing missionary things everyday of the week. They are having a weekly ward activity.  Then on June 29th, there is going to be a baptismal service after church and we don't know who, but someone (hopefully more than one person) will be baptized! The whole ward is fasting on June 1st for the baptism and then one family every day of the month will take a turn in fasting. Isn't' that so amazing?! Bingham is a great ward and they are so missionary- oriented. If all wards could have the faith of this ward than there would be many people joining the church."
She also reports the weather is warm and even when it rains the wind is warm!

Homeless for 2 Days and My Ancestors!

Sister Cardon shared that she and her companion were locked out of their flat for two whole days! They realized they were locked out on Saturday and their attempts to break into the  apartment were fruitless. Thankfully, they were able to stay at an accommodating senior couple's flat. She reports they were given toothbrushes, towels and a really soft bed. In addition, they had an Ipad and watched Mormon Messages before bed and loved them.  She said it was like staying in a Hotel except with no new cloths, underwear, or makeup. Even more, they were fed waffles, with real maple syrup and it was the best breakfast on her mission!

They taught lots of people this week. One  investigator has been asking many many questions that keep them on their toes. Sister Cardon and Sister MCCarrey are not being transferred so they will stay together and continue with all their investigators and many appointments. Sister Cardon reports the weather is getting warm and she hardly wore a jacket!!!! Amazing! She has found she has relatives in all three areas of Scotland and Ireland that she has served in.
She states:
"Missionary work is the best and happiest work I have ever done. It really helps me understand what really matters in life. We have dinner with a lot of less active college students and it was interesting to hear what their lives revolve around, friends, relationships and school. I have come to see on my mission how misleading it is to center your life around boys and who is going to be your next boyfriend, and how to impress your friends, or wear the right kind of cloths. I just hope that when I go home I won't be like that and I will remember what really matters in life."

Change of Heart and Sticky Note Prank!

 Car Sticky Prank is Universal!

All Sister Missionaries at Zone Conference
Sister Cardon reports that many lesson appointments fell through this last week. However, their week turned wonderful when a Baptist investigator that had stated he was not interested in being baptized read the Book of Mormon and changed his mind! Sister Cardon and Sis McCarry prayed that their investigator would open his mind to know the truth. He now has a baptismal date and has attended several church activities.

She shares,
It was a great testimony to me of being persistent and not losing faith even when things seem unlikely. It reminds me of that verse in Ether that says, "Ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith."  Or in our case, you receive no success until after you preservere and keep trying! So that was the great miracle of the week, probably one of the best experiences on my mission."

They enjoyed Zone Conference and received brilliant Counsel from President Brown. Sister Cardon enjoyed meeting up with missionaries she has served with!

Wettest Day Ever and Investigators Galore!

Caught in a Down Pour of ALL Down Pours
Sister Cardon Shares: "The most exciting thing that happened this week was probably exchanges with the STL's (Sister Trainer Leaders). I went with Sister Cuff again and had so much fun visiting Dunfermline. I am pretty sure that I have spent more time in Dunfermline than in Dundee because I have been on exchanges there so much. The people we saw this last exchange are all people I have visited before, so it was fun to see them again. I really like the STL's they are some of my favorite sisters in the mission, plus I always learn load from them and they make great smoothies:).

Do you want to hear a missionary joke? Something that people do here to new missionaries when they are first out is when they see a plane pass in the sky the point to it and look at their greenie and say, "how far away is that plane?" and the greenie says, "I don't know, far" and then the trainer says, " I do, 24 months." ........ silence hahahaha! I am sure that is a universal mission joke.

Other interesting things that happened include the crazy weather. The beginning of the week was hot, the middle of the week was absolutely freezing, worse than I have felt all winter freezing and then it was crazy rain yesterday. Yesterday, I got wetter than I ever have my entire mission! It happened on our way back from an appointment with a less active. She offered to give us a ride and we said we'd be fine. It was just sprinkling outside and about 5 minutes into the walk the heavens just opened and we got drenched completely and utterly soaked. And we had to walk all the way home in this torrential rain storm. It wasn't that cold just really really wet, I think we gave a people a good laugh as they drove by."

Moving Flats and Finding A Mom!

Sister Cardon and Sister McCarry with two girls from the ward

Water Balloon Volleyball on Zone Day

Sister Cardon had a very busy week in Dundee. Right after getting transferred to Dundee she found out she was going to be moving flats again. She said she almost fell off her chair as she has moved flats in every city she has lived in at least once, and some twice! She spent the week moving and organizing the new flat. She also met many of the investigators in Dundee and is very excited about teaching all of them. One investigator has a baptismal date in May! She and her companion prayed to find a mom that needed help. On the bus, they found a mom with three little boys that is interested in hearing more. They are very excited to be working with this mom. She had a Zone Day and spent the day with 24 other missionaries having a great time. They played Water balloon volley ball, Capture the flag ,Ultimate Frisbee, Dodge ball, a game called Splash and lots of food and fun. She mentioned that Heavenly Father blessed them with the only sunny day in 10 days for their Zone Day and the next day it started raining again.

The City of Dundee and an Easter Message!

Sister Cardon reports she is very excited about being in Dundee. She knows the Lord is blessing her. As quick at the tears dried from leaving Edinburgh, her excitement increased at her new opportunities in Dundee. She loves her new companion Sister McCarry. She is also very happy to find out Sister McCarry loves to jog! She knows she will learn and grow with Sister McCarry. She was also pleased to find out her district leader is Elder Sweat, a boy from home that she went to high school with. She said there are two wards and is very excited about the members and the investigators they are working with. Dundee has a large University and the Young Single Adult YSA program is strong and they will be working a lot with the YSA. Two of their investigators are YSA's.

Sister Cardon said the sun shines more in Dundee and there are less storms from the Atlantic that come in. She found out she gets to move flats again!! She is glad she has good moving and packing skills now with moving flats so many times throughout her mission. Her message for Easter is:
I am just so glad that I have had this opportunity to better my relationship with my Savior while being on a mission. I have become fond of the scripture in Moroni 7:48 that says, "and when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is." I love it because I actually feel like I know who my Savior is. He is not just someone who died on a cross but He knows me and I know Him and when He comes I will recognize who He is, what He has done for me and I will know Him, actually know Him! I still don't know Him perfectly and I never will in this life, but I strive every day to come closer to Him by seeking and following His will. We can't know Him if we don't do what He commands. It's by what He commands and we understand and do that we come to know Him. There is my little testimony for the week, I love you all very very much! talk to you soon!
